Welcome to Cancun! We are sure that before arriving to this paradise you already know of everything there is to do here, but perhaps you have not read about the secret places that us locals go to to have fun that are not so well known. Ready to learn more?

El  Galeón del Caribe

For those who like fresh and affordable seafood, there is a  casual palapa on the lagoon side of the Hotel Zone at Km 19.5 to be exact. You have to pay attention because at first glance it’s not easily seen, as you’ll need to go to a lowered deck that isn’t very visible from Boulevard Kukulcán. The dishes are rich but the specialty of the Caribbean Galleon are the pescadillas. Ceviches are also popular, not to mention the guacamole. Know this, if you are looking for a reasonably priced restaurant, that is clean with simple decor, this is it!

The Ruins “El Rey”

For those who want to explore some archaeological ruins in Cancun, El Rey is a quiet, little frequented place surrounded by a charming view where you can appreciate the vestiges of Mayan culture.  We estimate that you can view the entire sire in about 1.5 hours. El Rey is located a few meters from Playa Delfines but on the side of the Nichupté Lagoon. Please do not compare this great place with Monte Alban or Chichen Itza because its size is smaller but surely you will find it just as enigmatic.

Playa Marlín (Marlin Beach)

This public beach is excellent for resting since you can rent chairs, tables, lounge-chairs and umbrellas for  the whole day. The only thing is that there are no public restrooms on the beach; However, you can go to Plaza Kukulcan. The entrance to Playa Marlín is just behind Plaza Kukulcan and you will be amazed by its white sand framed by that mesmerizing turquoise blue sea. The tide tends to be high, like a “bull fight” of the waves. Definitely a nice place to sunbathe and then go to the square to eat or buy something.

Wax Museum

Apparently few people know that there is a Wax Museum in Cancun, Plaza la Isla, maybe because it is on the second floor and the entrance is small, but you can locate it easily in front of the Italian restaurant, La Madonna. This interesting museum, as is tradition, shows the most popular characters in pop music, sports stars and historical characters. Take a photo with the talented Elvis Presley, the sweet Mother Teresa of Calcutta or the Queen of Pop, Madonna.

I hope that on your Cancun vacation is the most fun, interesting and unforgettable. Stay at the Sunset Royal Beach Resort, strategically located just meters from the heart of the Cancun Hotel Zone. To reserve, click here.
