The gastronomy in Cancun is as rich and extensive as the number of restaurants that exist within this international destination. Although it would be difficult to accurately account for how many restaurants there are, the fact is that only a few have prevailed in the taste of their faithful diners. So, we’ll mention those who have passed the test of time and the ones that’s visit will result in a feast for your palate.

Lorenzillo’s

It was in 1979 that Lorenzillo’s opens its doors to the public facing the calm waters of Laguna Nichupté. Undoubtedly, a classic to savor lobster in its many forms and that also is home to its own lobster farm. The menu suggests 21 ways to try it: garlic, cajun, roquefort, white wine and many more . However, lobster is not the only dish since there is a little of everything : seafood, steaks, pastas, salads, and of course exquisite desserts. All this in an environment that transports us aboard the ship of the dreaded pirate that inspired the name of such a fantastic place.

La Habichuela

This incredible restaurant was born under the command of the Pezzotti family, who from 1977 to date has managed to take the reins of this business to become a classic of Cancun. The first restaurant is located right in the center of Cancun and the second in the Hotel Zone, a few steps away from Plaza Kukulkán. Both are distinguished locations and offer home-made recipes for sophisticated palates amidst an atmosphere that evokes the grandeur of Mayan culture. Without a doubt, since La Habichuela opened its doors, the fusion of Mexican-Caribbean food has never been as exquisite and finely prepared.

La Distilería

Located on the side of Nichupte Lagoon and with a mustard-colored façade that seems to be part of the landscape, the restaurant La Destilería has become the favorite place to try the best Mexican dishes accompanied by the most varied tequilas. Perhaps the specialty of the house is the merry mariachis that burst with joy and tradition while the waiters serve the finest cuts of meat, the most varied molcajetes and even the most succulent cheese fondues. Did we forget to mention the visits from the crocodile Pancho? A whole show for those who prefer to sit on the terrace by the lagoon.
